PSBJ Recognizes Talus Bio COO Michelle Briscoe in Voices of Pride Ceremony
June 6, 2024
As Chief Operating Officer of Talus Bio, Michelle Briscoe says her job is to oversee “everything but the science.”
The Seattle biotech is developing tools that could help it target proteins at the root of cancer and identify potential treatments. Briscoe’s role bridges its finance, HR, legal and facilities teams and guides strategic planning, business development and fundraising decisions on the company’s executive team and board of directors. In addition to her role at Talus Bio, Briscoe is a founding board member of OUTbio Seattle, the Seattle chapter of the largest LGBTQ+ professional organization in the life sciences.
“I’ve always believed the more open leaders are about our lives, the more comfortable our employees will be bringing their true, authentic selves to work,” said Briscoe in an interview with PSBJ. “I’ve always had the privilege of working in companies where I could meet one-on-one with each new employee on their first day and set the tone early on. I’ll offhandedly work in an anecdote about my ex-wife, or my son’s three moms or a date. Hopefully, that shows the person I’m comfortable talking about my personal life, and I want them to be, too.”
